Appendix 4 Dress – Rule 53 – Juveniles

Juniors, Beginners Class – Adult and Junior

Juveniles

 

BOYS:                          Black trousers, plain white shirt with black tie.

 

GIRLS:                         Leotard and wrap-over skirt or a simple dress, both with no sequin,

                                       diamante or similar decoration.

 

 

Boys’ Dress – Ballroom, Latin and Sequence (See illustrations)

 

Ballroom Sequence    Normal waisted black trousers OR

                                       High waisted black trousers (underfoot strap optional).

                                       Trouser material e.g. polyester, wool, stretch helenca, eurolustre,

                                       Suiting, mohair.

                                       Plain white shirt cotton or polyester with cotton.  See rule 53© for

                                       details of permissible sponsorship logos.

                                       Plain black tie.

 

Latin                              Normal waisted black trousers OR

High waisted black trousers (narrow black belt and underfoot strap optional)

Trouser material e.g. polyester, stretch helenca, eurolustre, suiting, mohair

                                       Plain white shirt cotton or polyester with cotton.  See Rule 53© for

                                       details of permissible sponsorship logos.

                                       Plain black tie (bow).

 

Materials and Styles NOT permitted for boys shirts

 

Satin or similar shiny materials

Wing collars

Extra full sleeves

 

Girls Dress – Ballroom, Latin and Sequence (See illustrations)

 

Ballroom                      Simple Dress

Sequence                      Simple Dress with double circular skirt

Latin                              Leotard with full wrap-over skirt is acceptable or simple dress.

 

Self-coloured pleated skirt with blouse is acceptable for all styles.

 

Note.  Teachers are asked to advise parents to be sensible in their choice of hairstyles and the amount of make-up applied on Juvenile girls.

 


Girls’ Clarification of Approved Styles – Ballroom, Latin and Sequence (See illustrations)

 

Neck Lines                  Boat high neck, sweetheart, V-neck, ‘Peter Pan’ collar.  One frill up to depth of three inches or a simple collar.

 

Back Views                  See illustrations

 

Sleeves                         Long, short, elbow length, short puff cap.  NO FRILLS OR DOLMAN.

 

Skirt Length                (Not below the knee)

                                       One frill allowed at bottom of skirt up to three inches depth.

                                       (Fishing line wiring in bottom of skirt optional)

 

Skirt Length

Sequence Only            Skirt may be one inch below the bottom of the knee.

 

Shoes                              Block heel only with a maximum height of 3.5cm.

                                       High-heel shoes are not permitted.

 

Materials                     Any self-coloured material.  This must not have any metallic thread or be decorated with sequins, lace, diamante, rhinestones, fluorescent paint, feathers, fringe, bows or any other similar trimmings.

Any see-through materials (except on arms) must be lined.

Stretch lace material is permitted.

Colour co-ordinated mesh/colour match power net/fine net are not

permitted for bodices or part bodices unless they are fully lined

from waist to should seams.  The material may be used unlined for

sleeves only.

 

Note.  A small bow may only be used on belt or sash as fastening.

 

Girls’ Styles NOT Permitted

Slashed-neck leotard or dress with one sleeve.

Leotard of dress with shoe string straps or straps of any description.

Leotard or dress with straps and body stocking or similar see-through material inserts.

Skirt with feather trim.

Fringe skirt or with fringe trim.

Skirt with Tiered frills.

Skirt with godettes.

Skirt made up of strips.

Skirt with frill and split up front.

Skirt with wired frills must not have splits up back, front or side.

Leotard or dress with Dolman Sleeves.

Sleeveless leotard or dress with frills on shoulder.

Sleeves with frill edging.

Sleeves tiered, belled or slashed.

High heel shoes.

Slashed thighs front or back.

Cut-out bodices front or back.

 

Juniors

Boys in Junior Latin Competitions except Beginners grade may wear cat suits. Beginner class competitors must not wear dinner jackets, tail suits or cat suits. Girls in Beginner competitions must wear a simple dress or leotard and wrap-over skirt.  No dress can have any sequin, diamonte or similar decoration.

 

Beginners Class – Adult and Junior

Boys/Men: Competitors must not wear dinner jackets, cat suits or tail suits.

Girls/Ladies: Girls in Beginner competitions must wear a simple dress or leotard and

wrap-over skirt.  No dress can have any sequin, diamonte or similar decoration.
